Begin your day with a guided tour of the New York State Capitol, renowned for its impressive architecture, ornate interiors, and fascinating history. Discover the stories behind the building’s three architects and the craftsmanship that makes it one of the nation’s most impressive state capitols. Then travel to the charming Berkshire town of Lenox for lunch and a guided tour of The Mount, the elegant estate of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton. This afternoon, visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of Rockwell’s artwork, and discover the history and inspiration behind many of his beloved paintings. End the day with dinner at the historic The Red Lion Inn, a Berkshire landmark known for its warm hospitality and timeless New England charm. B, L, D

DAY 3: SARATOGA SPRINGS AND LAKE GEORGE

This morning, visit Old Friends at Cabin Creek, a retirement sanctuary where champion Thoroughbred racehorses enjoy their well-earned retirement. Meet some of racing’s most celebrated horses and hear the remarkable stories behind their careers. Continue to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame for a private tour highlighting the people, horses, and moments that shaped the sport. This afternoon, board a scenic cruise on beautiful Lake George, known as the “Queen of American Lakes.” Relax as crystal-clear waters, mountain views, and vibrant fall foliage surround you on one of New York’s most scenic lakes. DAY 4: THE VON TRAPP FAMILY LODGE

Cross into Vermont and discover why the Green Mountain State is the perfect place for fall foliage. Start the day by watching master artisans at work during a glassblowing demonstration at Simon Pearce, then enjoy time to browse its stunning collection of handcrafted glassware. Continue to Quechee Gorge, where sweeping views provide one of Vermont’s most memorable fall foliage panoramas. At the King Arthur Baking Company, enjoy some time to shop, watch baking demonstrations, and savor a sweet treat at this beloved culinary destination. This afternoon, visit Cold Hollow Cider Mill, where fresh-pressed cider, warm cider donuts, and famous maple creemees provide a true taste of Vermont. Later, arrive at the beautiful von Trapp Family Lodge and Resort with time to explore the grounds and take in sweeping mountain views. Discover the lodge’s rich brewing tradition during a brewery tour before gathering for dinner. Cap off the day with an unforgettable overnight stay at this Austrian-inspired alpine retreat, founded by the family whose story inspired The Sound of Music. B, L, D

DAY 5: AUTUMN IN THE GREEN MOUNTAIN STATE

Enjoy a leisurely morning at the von Trapp Family Lodge and Resort to relax, browse the gift shop, stroll the scenic grounds, and take in the stunning views of the Green Mountain State.

Later, learn the fascinating story of the von Trapp family during a guided family history tour that brings their remarkable journey to life. After lunch in the Main Dining Hall, head to the iconic Ben and Jerry’s Factory for a guided tour and free time to sample your favorite flavors, browse the gift shop, and even visit the Flavor Graveyard. This evening, enjoy dinner at the historic Ye Olde Tavern, a beloved Vermont institution built in 1790 and serving classic New England fare. Our Welcome Dinner on Day 1 is at our hotel, Albany Marriott, starting at 6:30 p.m. We recommend scheduling your flight to arrive by 4:00 p.m.

Departure Time

Schedule your flight home to depart the Albany Airport any time after breakfast on Day 6. Plan your return flight home to best fit your schedule.

Airport Transportation / Vehicle Parking

Our starting hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to/from the Albany Airport. If you are driving to the starting location, they also offer complimentary parking for the duration of the tour.

Walking Distance

To fully enjoy your vacation, you should be in good physical health and understand there are times when a good deal of walking is involved in our tours. Those who have difficulty walking may not want to take this trip or should discuss their personal situation with their doctor before deciding. You should be able to walk at a steady pace up to a mile at a time for a daily total of three to four miles per day and be able to manage steps to board/de-board the motorcoach several times a day. In addition, please know you may be expected to exit the motorcoach at each stop because local law requires mandatory motorcoach driver breaks.

Due to the lack of proper facilities at some of the farms, ranches, and off-the-beaten-path sites we often visit, we are unable to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.
