Day 1: WELCOME TO MINNESOTA!

Arrive in Minneapolis and transfer to your hotel. This evening, meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers during a welcome dinner as you begin your Twin Cities winter adventure. D

Day 2: TWIN CITIES TOUR/CURLING/COMO PARK CONSERVATORY

This morning, discover the Twin Cities on a guided tour of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Stately cathedrals, historic neighborhoods, and the flowing Mississippi River reflect St. Paul’s timeless character, while offers a striking contrast with its modern skyline and urban character. Later, embrace a true Minnesota tradition with a hands-on curling experience. Then, leave the chill behind as you step into the Como Park Conservatory, a lush oasis of vibrant blooms and tropical greenery. Surrounded by warmth, color, and the fragrance of flowers, it’s a welcome contrast to the winter landscape outside. Return to the hotel this evening with time to relax or explore on your own. B, L

Day 3: SAINT PAUL WINTER CARNIVAL/WABASHA CAVES

Today, step into the heart of Minnesota’s winter spirit at the Saint Paul Winter Carnival, a cherished tradition dating back more than a century. Marvel at intricate ice sculptures that glisten in the winter sun, soak in the festive atmosphere, and experience the joy of a community that truly embraces the season. This afternoon, uncover a hidden side of the city as you explore the Wabasha Street Caves. Once bustling with secret speakeasies during Prohibition, these sandstone caves hold tales of gangsters and mystery, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. Gather this evening for dinner and reflect on a day filled with winter magic and captivating stories. B, D

Day 4: MINNESOTA HISTORY CENTER/BAKKEN MUSEUM/ DINNER THEATER

Discover the stories, people, and events that shaped Minnesota at the Minnesota History Center, where personal accounts and museum collections bring the state’s history to life. Then, continue to the Bakken Museum for hands-on experiments and exhibits that explore the science of electricity, innovation, and invention. Located along the shores of Bde Maka Ska, the museum provides a distinctive setting before your evening at Chanhassen Dinner Theater, where you’ll enjoy dinner and a performance of Annie. B, L, D

Day 5: RETURN HOME

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Twin Cities and transfer to the airport for your journey home. Depart with memories of the Winter Carnival, Twin Cities landmarks, unique local traditions, and time shared with fellow travelers. B

HISTORY SAINT PAUL WINTER CARNIVAL

Founded in 1886, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival was created to celebrate the vitality of the city during the coldest months of the year. Inspired by European winter festivals, early organizers introduced grand traditions such as ice palaces, parades, and elaborate pageantry. Central to the celebration is the legend of King Boreas, the symbolic ruler of the North Wind, a tradition that continues to shape the festival today. Over time, the Carnival has grown while preserving its historic roots, making it one of the oldest and most enduring winter festivals in the United States and a reflection of Saint Paul’s rich heritage and community pride.

Schedule your flight home to depart the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport any time on Day 6.

Our starting hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to/from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. If you are driving to the starting location, they also offer complimentary parking for the duration of the tour.

Walking Distance

To fully enjoy your vacation, you should be in good physical health and understand there are times when a good deal of walking is involved in our tours. Those who have difficulty walking may not want to take this trip or should discuss their personal situation with their doctor before deciding. You should be able to walk at a steady pace up to a mile at a time for a daily total of three to four miles per day and be able to manage steps to board/de-board the motorcoach several times a day. In addition, please know you may be expected to exit the motorcoach at each stop because local law requires mandatory motorcoach driver breaks.

Due to the lack of proper facilities at some of the farms, ranches, and off-the-beaten-path sites we often visit, we are unable to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.

Dress on tour is casual. Winter weather in Minnesota can be cold and snowy. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm winter coat, hat, gloves or mittens, scarf, insulated waterproof boots with good traction, and sunglasses for bright, snowy conditions. Hand warmers may also be useful during outdoor activities.

The hotel for the duration of the tour offers a complimentary shuttle to the Mall of America.
