DAY 1: WELCOME TO CLEVELAND!

Welcome to Cleveland, an effervescent city on the shores of Lake Erie. Enjoy a friendly welcome dinner and gathering. D

DAY 2: CHEESE MAKER/HOMEMADE BREAD/BASKET MAKER

Begin in Geauga County, home to the fourth-largest Amish population in the world, with a visit to Rothenbuhler Cheese Chalet, where generations of the Rothenbuhler family have continued a Swiss cheesemaking tradition. Next, visit Mary Miller’s Amish homestead to learn how homemade bread is made, enjoy a light lunch and tour her house, barn and yard before continuing into Holmes County, home to the world’s largest Amish population. Stop at world-famous Lehman’s Hardware in Kidron, a 35,000-square-foot “Low Tech Superstore” known for its wide selection of non- electric goods. Then travel scenic back roads with narration before meeting Anna, an Amish basket maker from the conservative Swartzentruber Amish community, who will introduce you to her craft. Continue to Berlin and check in to the Berlin Grande Hotel, your home for the next three nights, before enjoying an Amish buffet dinner at The Farmstead. B, L, D

DAY 3: HERITAGE CENTER/BUGGY MAKER/

Start the day at the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center in Behalt, where you’ll learn about the formation of Anabaptist groups through a remarkable cyclorama painted by one man over 14 years. Explore exhibits featuring historic Bibles, hymn books, vintage Christian literature and other artifacts before visiting an Amish buggy maker’s shop to see how these iconic vehicles are built. Enjoy an Amish haystack lunch at an Amish home, then spend the afternoon exploring Walnut Creek, including visits to an Amish bulk food store, Coblentz Chocolates and Der Dutchman Bakery. Return to Berlin for free time to relax or browse local shops featuring antiques, home goods, crafts and quilts before gathering with the group this evening for a lively performance at the Amish Country Theater. DAY 4: AUCTION DAY/AMISH ORGANIC FARM/BUGGY RIDE/OHIO’S

Experience the energy of auction day in Mt. Hope, where livestock, hay, eggs, baked goods, flowers and other goods are bought and sold in the heart of the local community. Browse the flea market before visiting the Ernest “Mooney” Warther Museum to see detailed steam locomotive carvings, learn about Warther’s life and work, and view Frieda Warther’s impressive Swiss button collection. Continue through Pleasant Valley for a visit with David and Jared, organic dairy and crop farmers, and enjoy the opportunity to take a buggy ride along Amish back roads. Along the way, travel through Sugarcreek, known as Ohio’s Little Switzerland, before concluding the day with an Amish wedding dinner at an Amish home. B, D

DAY 5: AMISH QUILTING DEMONSTRATION/HOME

Conclude your time in Amish Country with a quilting demonstration at Ada’s Dan Order Amish home, where she creates quilted goods, soy candles and essential oil products. Enjoy one final opportunity to learn about Amish craftsmanship before returning to Cleveland with lasting memories of the people, traditions and hospitality you experienced throughout your journey. Arrival Time

Our Welcome Dinner on Day 1 is at our hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Cleveland Airport North, starting at 6:30 p.m. We recommend scheduling your flight to arrive by 4:00 p.m.

Departure Time

Schedule your flight home to depart the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) any time after 2 p.m. on Day 5.

Airport Transportation / Vehicle Parking

Our starting hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service to the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. If you are driving to the starting location, they also offer complimentary parking for the duration of the tour.

Walking Distance

To fully enjoy your vacation, you should be in good physical health and understand there are times when a good deal of walking is involved in our tours. Those who have difficulty walking may not want to take this trip or should discuss their personal situation with their doctor before deciding. You should be able to walk at a steady pace up to a mile at a time for a daily total of three to four miles per day and be able to manage steps to board/de-board the motorcoach several times a day. In addition, please know you may be expected to exit the motorcoach at each stop because local law requires mandatory motorcoach driver breaks.

Due to the lack of proper facilities at some of the farms, ranches, and off-the-beaten-path sites we often visit, we are unable to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.
