DAY 2: BRYN ATHYN/CHRISTMAS CITY USA
Depart Philadelphia and travel to Bryn Athyn, home of the stunning Cairnwood Estate. Enjoy holiday tea as you take in the opulence of the Gilded Age. Later, arrive in Bethlehem, also known as Christmas City USA. Enjoy free time to explore, experience the live Advent calendar, and perhaps visit the oldest continuously operating bookstore in the United States. B, L
DAY 3: BETHLEHEM CHRISTKINDLMARKT AND MORAVIAN DISTRICT
This morning, discover another side of Bethlehem’s history through its central role in the steel industry. Visit the massive Hoover Mason Trestle, a former narrow-gauge railroad built to transport materials from the ore yards to the blast furnaces. Next, step into a holiday wonderland at the Bethlehem Christkindlmarkt. Browse artisan craft stalls, sample festive food and drinks, and enjoy live musical performances. Later, explore Bethlehem’s Moravian district, recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See the Putz at Central Moravian Church, a traditional Bethlehem art form that tells the Christmas story through elaborate nativities. This evening, share a holiday dinner with your fellow travelers. DAY 4: SIGHT AND SOUND THEATER
Begin the day with a visit to Julius Sturgis, America’s first pretzel bakery. Tour the original facility and try twisting a pretzel. Stop at the Wilbur Chocolate shop, home of the Wilbur Bud, before enjoying a traditional Amish lunch in the home of a local family. Continue to Lancaster for a breathtaking performance at Sight and Sound Theater, where the story of Joshua comes to life on stage. B, L
DAY 5: VINTAGE CARS/AMERICAN
Travel back in time at Barry’s Car Barn, a museum featuring American muscle cars from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. After lunch, embrace the spirit of Christmas at the American Music Theatre with a performance of its original show, Winter Wonderland. B, L
DAY 6: LONGWOOD GARDENS/PHILADELPHIA CHRISTMAS VILLAGE
This morning, experience A Longwood Christmas at one of the country’s most iconic gardens. Hundreds of thousands of lights adorn Longwood Gardens’ sprawling conservatory and displays. Then say farewell to your fellow travelers as you head home with fond festive memories. B
