The Best of Iowa

Let's Travel to the Hawkeye State!

I always think of doing scouting trips to Iowa as a labor of love. Having lived in this fabulous state myself for a few years, I am always amazed by all of the new and fun things I see with each visit. Although not all of the stops we visit on these scouting trips will end up in the final itinerary, due to timing and logistics, you can count on the fact that each tour we create will be full of unique and interesting stops.

I can assure you our 2025 tour will have something for everyone. The great state of Iowa truly has my heart which is why this new tour will be called “The Heart of Iowa." This itinerary will showcase the warm, caring people, beautiful landscapes, and interesting history of Iowa. As I am still working out the details off this tour, I don't want to give too much away, but just trust we will have a good mix of everything that truly represents the best of Iowa.

What could be better than hugging an Alpaca?

Learn about the Clarion Hat Lady!

See one of the famous Freedom Rocks.

Would it be a trip to Iowa without seeing one-of-a-kind meticulously restored farm equipment!

Although not a stop on the tour, what a thrill it was to travel through a town called Slater. (My last name!)

Other exciting stops include talking to a cartoonist who contributes to Our Iowa magazine, meeting the owners, and exploring one of Iowa’s prettiest farms, enjoying a delicious meal as guests at an Amish farm, and learning the art of glassblowing by a professional gaffer! So much fun will be had on this tour, I can barely wait for you to see the full itinerary in our September catalog!
