Andrea Scouts Croatia: Yachting the Adriatic

From the desk of Andrea Brooks, President of CTD

At Country Travel Discoveries, we proudly do things differently. We don't just sell tours; we live them first so that our travelers arrive on vacation knowing every trip detail has been thoroughly reviewed and approved by our team of travel experts.

I love that we don’t plan our trips from behind a computer! So in that fashion, I recently traveled to Croatia to scout out the hotels, attractions, and superyacht featured on our upcoming 2024 Croatia: Yachting the Adriatic tour. Here are some of my favorite highlights...

Trogir, Croatia
Let's talk about Trogir - Croatia's best kept secret. This charming town will be one of the docking ports for our superyacht and is packed with historic palaces, churches, and towers. Walking the streets was like stepping back in time... young children were playing hopscotch, folks were reading the paper on park bench, and ladies were dressed in their best sitting at a café sipping expresso. This little town absolutely warmed my heart. Just a few minutes before I was about to leave, a local recommended this delicious flaky dough pastry with goat cheese. It became one of my favorite Croatian treats!

Visiting Our Private Croatian Superyacht
The Mamma Marija II was SPECTACULAR. (How could a superyacht not be?!) I was blown away that this vessel will be our traveler's home-away-from home during CTD's cruise of the Croatian islands. I personally met our Captain for a comprehensive tour and he showed me the handiwork he was doing to add additional upgrades for the 2024 season (including new paint)! I personally liked that the ship's 19 staterooms strike a perfect balance between comfort and luxury. Plus, with only 19 staterooms, this charter will be the perfect small-group vacation experience. I can't wait for you to see the islands of Croatia from the sundeck as we cruise the Adriatic. PS: One of the best things about this superyacht is that it can dock at small, largely untouched islands that you can't get to anyway else!

Prosciutto Tour and Tasting in Velim
Prosciutto, or "pršut" in Croatian, is a delicious staple in the local cuisine. I wanted to make sure our travelers had the opportunity to taste this specialty, so my local guide recommend Gosppodarstvo Roca in Velim. It's hard to describe this location, but let me paint the picture for you... A country road, an old-word Croatian home, a family-owned prosciutto production facility, a beautiful stone patio with olive trees for shade, and lunch overlooking the vineyards. I end this scouting day full of joy (and pršut). It's an experience you have to see for yourself.

Old City Dubrovnik
Known as "The Pearl of the Adriatic", Dubrovnik was absolutely a highlight of my scouting trip. I know CTD travelers will enjoy the unique history and old architecture of this city. I visited on a chilly December evening and my local guide warmed my heart with her hospitality! We walked this walled city as she spoke passionately about her home and all it has to offer. Also, she loves fashion and was dressed head to toe in winter white! She said "I just feel like one color makes the outfit pop!" (I made some fashion notes.) She is looking forward to meeting CTD travelers in October!

It's hard to express how much I love Country Travel Discoveries and the passion I have to make sure every traveler experiences their "vacation of a lifetime". For some folks, that means exploring the charming backroads of the Midwest. For others, it's flying across the Atlantic for a Croatian exploration.

I hope you come with me and see all this country has to offer.
