DAY 1 - CITY OF ROSES
Welcome to Portland, the beautiful “City of Roses”! Our adventure begins with a private reception at the Monarch Hotel. You’ll meet your Discoveries Director, get to know your traveling companions and hear all about the exciting days ahead.
DAY 2 - BOB’S RED MILL/HAZELNUTS /YAQUINA HEAD
You’ve seen the packaging at your local grocery store, now get a chance to see up close and personal Bob’s Red Mill. The products are manufactured using time honored techniques, like grinding whole grains at cool temperatures with a traditional stone mill. And, did you know that Oregon grows 99% of all hazelnuts in the United States? Find out all about these delicious nuts that are grown in Oregon.
After lunch, we’ll continue on our way towards the coast stopping at Yaquina Head Lighthouse, the region’s most photographed lighthouse, before checking into our oceanfront hotel for the evening. B, L
DAY 3 - DISCOVERY CRUISE/GATHERING TOGETHER FARM/SISTERS
We’ll embark this morning from the historic bayfront in Newport on a Discovery cruise of Newport Bay. An ocean naturalist will join us on board to share fascinating tales of the deep and local wildlife, which can range from sea lions and gray whales to pelicans and bald eagles. Leaving the coast, we head inland to Philomath, where we’ll have a delightful lunch at Gathering Together Farm, which the bulk of their produce they use in their restaurant.
Later, we make our way through the scenic Willamette National Forest and into the western town of Sisters. You’ll have time to stretch your legs and grab an ice cream before continuing on to Sunriver Resort our home for the next three nights. B, L
DAY 4 - HIGH DESERT MUSEUM/NEWBERRY VOLCANO/BBQ COOKOUT
After a delicious breakfast, return to the days of explorers, settlers and buckaroos at the High Desert Museum in Bend. The history of the mountain frontier will come alive as you and your traveling friends explore life-size dioramas of an 1800s settlement…view exhibits of fascinating Western and native art…and see golden eagles, otters and porcupines, maybe even a wild mustang! Then explore one of the natural wonders near our resort. Newberry National Volcanic Monument was created in 1990 to preserve the lava lands in Central Oregon. You’ll visit the Lava Lands area for an up-close look at the obsidian lava fields and learn more about this active volcanic area of the state. Return to the resort for an afternoon of leisure. Perhaps you’ll rent a bicycle for a leisurely afternoon ride on the miles of bike trails around the property. Or enjoy a swim in the pool. Whatever you do, enjoy your afternoon! DAY 5 - SUNRIVER RESORT/CRATER LAKE
Today is yours to enjoy the resort and all of its amenities. Or, if you’d like, take our optional tour to Crater Lake National Park. B

We’ll enjoy an excursion around the 33-mile rim, stopping several times to take in the awesome scenery. You’ll view enchanting Wizard Island, see the “phantom ship” rock formation and be mesmerized by the deep azure of the water. Later enjoy lunch and more breathtaking scenery at Crater Lake. DAY 6 - MT HOOD/KIYOKAWA ORCHARDS CASCADE LOCKS
Today is full of the sights and sounds and wonderful scents of Oregon. You’ll marvel at the beauty of the dramatic, 300-footdeep river canyon, Crooked River Gorge. Next, get ready to ascend majestic Mt. Hood! Our drive up to the timberline will reveal one spectacular vista after another. We’ll enjoy a tasty lunch at Timberline Lodge, a rustic resort built by the WPA craftsmen during the Great Depression. You’ll also tour portions of this amazing property with a U.S. Forest Service Ranger. The artistry will astonish you. The Hood River Valley is the “fruit bowl” of Oregon, and no visit would be complete without a stop at Kiyokawa Orchards in Parkdale. You’ll have a chance to taste some luscious fresh picked apples and pears at their orchard market. We’ll finish our day with a tasty dinner cruise on the spectacular Columbia River Gorge. B, L, D
DAY 7 - BONNEVILLE DAM/COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE
This morning, we set off to see the Bonneville Dam. As we explore this engineering wonder, you’ll be amazed at how this facility generates electricity for the entire region. Fishing is big business here and you’ll also get an up-close look at an elaborate hatchery that turns out millions of salmon each year. On to legendary Multnomah Falls, plummeting 620 feet, it is the second highest year-round waterfall in America. You’ll love the magical sight of the exquisite silver stream flying down the mammoth rock face. Our final stop along the gorge is the majestic Crown Point overlook and the Vista House. Built as a rest stop observatory for travelers on the old Columbia River Gorge Highway, the Vista House is a fitting memorial honoring Oregon’s pioneers—particularly those who made their way down the Columbia River.
