DAYS 1-2—DUBLIN CITY TOUR/GUINNESS BREWERY
Welcome to Ireland! Today you’ll join our local driver/guide for a tour of Dublin City, founded as a Viking settlement and home to the Irish Parliament since the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922. Highlights include St. Patrick’s Cathedral, fashionable Grafton Street, Trinity College which houses the Book of Kells and Guinness Brewery founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. Overnight in Dublin at the Camden Court Hotel. D
DAY 3—NATIONAL STUD FARM/ROCK OF CASHEL/KINSALE
Travel south to County Kildare, the center of Ireland’s horse breeding industry, for a guided tour of the Irish National Stud Farm. See the amazing Rock of Cashel, seat of the Kings of Munster from 370 — 1101 and early associations with St. Patrick. Overnight in Kinsale, a historic fishing town on the southern coastline of County Cork, at the four-star Trident Hotel overlooking Kinsale Harbour. B, D
DAY 4—QUEENSTOWN STORY/BLARNEY CASTLE
Travel to Cobh, one of the main points of emigration during the great famine, to experience “The Queenstown Story” which portrays the hardship of life on board ship as it sailed to the “New World”. Continue to Blarney Castle and see the famous Blarney Stone. Return to Kinsale for a free afternoon to enjoy browsing in its many shops or observing the bustling harbor. B
DAY 5—WEST CORK/MIZEN HEAD/KENMARE/KILLARNEY
Travel the southern coastline to Mizen Head, the most southerly point of Ireland, visit the award-winning Maritime Museum and Heritage Attraction. Continue to Killarney taking in a 20-mile stretch of the famous Ring of Kerry. Check into the centrally located Killarney Plaza Hotel for a three-night stay. B, D
DAY 6—MUCKROSS HOUSE & GARDENS/ST.PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
Board an Irish Jaunting Car to the Killarney National Park, a journey which winds its way through some of the oldest oak forests in Ireland for a visit to Muckross House and Gardens. Get your Shamrock ready and join the locals for a march in the annual Killarney St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one of the highlights of the year in Ireland and a Country Travel Discoveries exclusive experience you will treasure forever! DAY 7—THE DINGLE PENINSULA
Enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Dingle Peninsula, once cited as the “most beautiful place on earth” by the National Geographic. Enjoy some free time in Dingle for lunch before returning to Killarney and dinner in a local pub. B, D
DAY 8—TRALEE/SHANNON FERRY/CLIFFS OF MOHER/GALWAY
Travel to Tralee, capital town of County Kerry, and continue to Tarbert to board the Shannon Ferry to Killimer. Take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher which rise 600 ft over the Atlantic Ocean and continue through the lunar landscape of the Burren to the shores of Galway Bay and a two-night stay in the four-star Harbour Hotel, Galway. Explore Connemara, whose rugged scenes of mountains, lakelands and boglands created the background of countless movies including “The Quiet Man” with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.
