Discover America's Northern Lakes
Fall in Love with the Heartland and Discover What Makes the Great Lakes Region Great!
Okay, being headquartered in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, maybe we're a little biased. But Country Travel DISCOVERIES is proud to present summer and fall departures on two Discovery tours we've specially crafted to showcase the wonders of the region we love.
With sizzling summer departures starting in July and extending deep into October harvest and foliage season, our journeys across the backroads -- and waterways, and railways -- of Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan's Upper Pennisula give travelers a chance to experience the County Highway "A" and "local-only, favorite" spots of our Upper Middle West, the way we see it...by rail and sail and coach -- even gondola!
Country Travel DISCOVERIES offers two unique explorations of the Northern Midwest:
July 11-18 | Sept. 12-19
Begin your adventure in Milwaukee and cross the greatest Great Lakes for a journey filled with dynamic and diverse scenery, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and sit-down conversations with fascinating folks who make their living off the land. We'll also head up to Green Bay's historic Lambeau Field, an authentic "fish boil" in quaint Door County, and head over to Michigan's rugged Upper Pennisula to learn about its logging traditions, haunted lighthouses, maritime adventures including the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and more.
Includes two night suite stay on the beautiful shores of Lake Huron and lunch at Mackinac Island's world famous Grand Hotel. This tour is also extensible with greatoptional excursions ranging from the rugged Jack Pine Lumberjack Show to the gourmet five-course dinner with dance and concert music performed by The Grand Hotel Orchestra.
Lake Superior Shores & The North Woods
July 16-22 | Aug. 6-12 | Sept. 23-29* | Oct. 1-7
Experience the treasures of Minnesota and Wisconsin's North Woods! From the pristine shores of Lake Superior and the St. Croix River Valley to lush farmland and Mississippi River vistas, you'll enjoy an Apostle Islands cruise and journey through Wisconsin's north woods and the Great River Road!
En route we'll enjoy the diversity of cultures and cuisines, landscapes and activities of rural Wisconsin, from Amish country to the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame to the Great Lakes lighthouses to (of course) one of Wisconsin's celebrated classic Germanic breweries, Leinenkugel's of Chippewa Falls!
* With the September 23-29 departure we participate in the Warrens Cranberry Festival, the world's largest, with amazing tastings, arts and crafts, shopping and antiques, and more.
